New Poll???

Hi 6th graders! I'm looking for a new science poll to post on our blog. I have done "most interesting type of rock"; "most polluted city"; and "where you think the most bacteria is on campus".

What would you like to poll on next? Weigh in!

*After you are done, make sure to click on the section tab labeled "activities". There are some fun games to play there. Enjoy!

Sir Isaac Newton

"I do not know what I may appear to the world, but to myself I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the seashore, and diverting myself in now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me."

--Sir Isaac Newton

I have always found Newton to be fascinating because he created the first reflecting telescope. He developed something that helps us see into such an unknown space.

Who do you think has been the most influential in the world of science and why?

The Greenhouse Effect: Simulated Experience

http://phet.colorado.edu/simulations/sims.php?sim=The_Greenhouse_Effect

This is a neat simulation. You will need Java version 1.5 or higher to play. Just click on "run now" to play the game. If your computer is an older machine, you may need to download the most recent version of java. Ask your mom and dad for help. :) Neat game. Hope you guys like it too!

Explore the World of PH

http://www.miamisci.org/ph/phpanel.html

Click on "expand" and check out the cleaning pennies virtual lab. Cool! Also, the PH Panel on the main page is neat. If you click on the various items, like lemon juice, borax, and so forth, you are able to view what the PH is for each. This is a neat site to learn more about PH factor, bases, and acids.
