This is a blog for, and about, science at CHIME Charter Middle School. Specifically, this is a place for our 6th grade scientists to try activities, read science news relevant to their lives, and blog about their experiences.
This quiz taught me a lot. Did you know the most common extrusive rock is basalt? I never really realized how many rocks there are. The types of rocks continue on from metamorphic, secimentary, and igneous. There are even more specific rock such as obsidian and chert! Did you know scientists can discover the relative age of a rock, just from looking at a fossil? I think it's interesting that such a small item, can reveal so much interesting information. Did you know that halite forms at low tempatures at Earth's surface, while minerals from granite form at high tempatures below Earth's surface? Isn't it interesting how changes in tempature and altitude can change rocks so much? I really enjoyed taking this quiz, and I learned a lot from it!
